If you are planning to move this summer, chances are that you are doing so to avoid the classic Canadian snow and slush! While the temperature may be more favourable for moving into a new space with all your packed boxes, you also need to pay extra attention to your belongings if you are storing with Vaultra during the summer months.
You might not be aware that many frequently used items can be damaged from extreme heat and humidity. At Vaultra, we want to help minimize the risk of damage and ensure that your storage unit is comfortable for you, when you need to access your belongings.
From furnishings to musical instruments and artwork, there are a myriad of items which you may decide to store with Vaultra in self storage. However, the summertime heat can be damaging to certain items, and our goal is always to ensure that our possessions are cared for and in good condition under our care. Here is a list of items which you should pay extra special attention to, when it comes to storage:
Liquids should never be stored in a storage unit. This is especially true for flammable liquids such as kerosene, gasoline and liquids that emit noxious odors or fumes. Even water can cause problems when stored. During the summer, water evaporates, causing humidity in the surrounding area. This humidity can encourage mold and mildew growth.
